How to Hold a Wineglass
Wine is delicate, and heat from your hands can radiate through a glass and change flavor, aroma, and texture. Our favorite wine guy, Matt Skinner, demonstrates the proper way to hold a wineglass to keep the heat away. He also demonstrates proper digit placement if you’ve gone stemless. To learn more from Matt, check out his new book, Heard It Through the Grapevine.
joonjoon, thats what the microwave is for silly!
What if the wine is too cold and needs to be warmed up? Silly video.
If you prefer to drink your wine straight from the bottle, is the typical wine container thick enough to insulate the wine regardless of how it's gripped or should the bottle by grasped by the neck to avoid overheating?
Also, what's the proper protocol for drinking wine from a box? Is there a specific corner that should be utilized? I'm thinking back bottom right, but that's just a guess.
This video is fine as far as it goes, but more important is that you should conciously consider the temperature of your wine, and how it relates to how it tastes. Most of the time, whites are served too cold and the heat of your hand is beneficial in bringing it closer to a temperature where it will taste better to you, and reds are generally served too warm and your hand only makes it worse.

The other problem with holding a wine glass on the "globey" part is that over the course of drinking the glass you will leave a lot of gross looking fingerprints, not so noticeable to yourself, but to somebody looking at you from a different angle with lighting behind you as you raise it to your lips... yuck!-COLLAPSE
My wife and I are just venturing into the wine community and this was right on time. Thanks
Who needs this video? About 75% of everyone I've ever seen drinking wine at restaurants. There they are, clutching the bowls of their glasses with their hot little hands, as though the stems are for decoration. Another reason why trendy stemless wine glasses are so nonsensical. What's dumb is bothering to use fragile stemware incorrectly. Might as well use a mason jar.
Just plain dumb. Who needs a video on how to hold a wine glass for gosh sake.
