How to Hull a Strawberry
Waterbar Executive Pastry Chef Emily Luchetti shows how to get rid of any woody parts and ensure every bite of a strawberry is sweet. Test your mad hulling skills in her recipes for Summer Pudding, Brown Butter Crepes, or Brown Sugar Meringues.
I agree. I don't even pluck the leaves off - they'll come with the everything else and it's easy to pick off any that don't.
I think AB's way of hulling is much more expedient. Pluck off the leaves, and then use a star tip! It gets the white and woody parts out in one easy step. An added benefit is the virtual impossibility of cutting yourself when faced with an overripe berry.
