Oh, Crap! It’s Mother’s Day!
She’ll never know you almost forgot
Give yourself a break: Everyone forgets Mother’s Day at some point. But that’s between you and your therapist.
Whether it’s for your mother or the mother of your children, putting on a spread that will perpetuate the ruse that you’ve been planning this event for weeks is job number one. This quick brunch menu is elegant yet easy to prepare—get the kids to help. Now go buy a card and some flowers. Hurry!

Personally, I like the title as a matter of fact I think I'll leave this site up for my son who has to be constantly reminded that Mother's day is a coming and yet he still forgets! This year (2011) it falls on the 8th. Gee, I can see him now running frantically to CVS to get me a card or yet again scrambled eggs with toast and grape jelly. (Sigh!)
That was a good trick on those that tend to forget the holidays. hee.hee.
this title saved my butt--if I didn't get a wake-up jolt someplace harmless like this, I'd be saying a rougher version of the title for real.
Another interpretation of the title is not date-related, but a reaction to the total repetitiveness of the menu and ritual in many households.
perhaps if you want to be helpful you could add a subtle subtext about mother's day being May 10th this year.
Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. Even though we intended the story to serve people who forgot/will forget, we still have to get it up on the site early.
Yeah, man. That is NOT COOL.
Idiots, don't scare me like that, mother's day is May 10th, not tomorrow
