Wow, James, you prankster, you!
I had been reasonably impressed by your opinions, until I thought I saw you mixing ice and ginger ale into scotch that came from a $2000.00 bottle. I was then wide-eyed and slack-jawed at how badly I had misjudged you, and was yelling "Noooo!" at the screen as I watched you defile incredibly good booze by adding a mixer.

As to "smooth as the dickens," and "is it worth $2000.00 a bottle," in my experiences with good scotch, I have often found that I like a little bit of bite, and that the younger stuff can often be made to taste a lot like the older stuff (from the same distillery) just by the addition of some water. I can't imagine a bottle of scotch that would be worth that much, to me.-COLLAPSE
Bargain alert. Available recently at Kermit Lynch in Berkeley Ca the 64 Black Bowmore. Call first, may be gone now.

No, it's not the most expensive scotch. Most of the older islay certainly aren't cheap. One of the most expensive right now is Black Bowmore, which is being sold for more than $10,000 per bottle, if one is lucky enough to find it. If anyone is interested in rare scotch, Binnie's in Chicago is one of the best places in the United States of find it. www.binnies.com
Certainly looks like it could be. A steal for just over $500!
is this the same stuff?

LOL he had me too with the ginger ale. I almost shut it off right there.
A little to pricey for my pocket, but if I could get my hands on some (the scotch and also enough money) I would love to try it. Also almost freaked about the ginger ale.
Bob - if you're into Metaxa, have you tried their premium versions? above the Seven Star are Grand Fine (about $40) and Private Reserve (20 years old, about $80).
It may not be as costly, but Metaxa Seven Star is still costly. It's my favorite. Anyone who would pay $3,000 for a bottle of booze had too much money.
Trying to verify the claim made by the title (which *doesn't* end with "ever put in James's mouth") doesn't constitute jumping on anyone. I was hoping to get the facts, that's all.
It's 5:25am est and i thought iwas having a bad dream when James first added ice to any 40year single malt, then he added ginger ale and the bad dream turned into my worst nightmare. Igasped, what is he doing? good joke! anyway, i've been lucky to have had 18 HP many times and the 25yr on numerous special occasions,it goes forappr. $225/750ml and is outstanding. i personally prefer it to Mac 25....+READ

@FrankJBN: the most expensive booze..ever put in James' mouth.
1-2 drinks mellows the average person out. I get a sense that some of the posters here have had more with their eagerness to jump on the OP or each other.
"James did not claim that this was the most expensive single malt scotch. He said it was the most expensive thing he had ever put in his mouth. Just thought I'd add that clarification. "
Maybe you can clarify the meaning of the heading at the top of this page and the link on the forum page "The Most Expensive Booze"
James did not claim that this was the most expensive single malt scotch. He said it was the most expensive thing he had ever put in his mouth. Just thought I'd add that clarification. Loved the ginger ale prank.
"Has everyone but me heard of this stuff?" I can't speak for everyone, but I've been drinking Highland Park for about 25 years now. Never had anything older than the 18-year though.
I agree with tata, I very much doubt this qualifies as the world's most expensive single malt.
Funny video, but according to what definition &/or stats is this the most expensive scotch? That figure seems low to me; my SO swears he saw bottles in the Berlin department store KaDeWe going for much more; and certainly auctioned bottles have gone for much, much more.

Why does this get five stars for marketing? Has everyone but me heard of this stuff?
1. WHAT THE HELL?!?!

2. Ohhhhhhhhh...
Holy crap...I almost punched my computer! hahaha
Amazing!
You gave me a heart attack when you added the ice and then when the ginger ale I nearly died. Well played!
