but a straw works well, to suck out the air , out of a ziplock bag
Just a small suggestion -but you can actually write the date right onto the ziplock bag without having to use masking tape. A Sharpie works well.
It works! I have frozen shelled pecans form the fall of '06 and they have lasted good enough to make a delicioso pecan pie, recently.
Walnuts too. When I first started doing it I put them in zip lock bags with most of the air removed.
Now I have a food saver machine that takes out virtually all the air.
I'd go "nuts" if I didn't have that machine. I use it on everything.
