Only the Best for Muggs: Foie Gras Dog Biscuits at Bouchon Bakery

My dog has never been happier than when he was snarfing down foie gras–laced doggie biscuits made lovingly at Yountville's Bouchon Bakery. He's a simple animal; I am not. Let's break it down:

CON:
They cost $7 for a bag of four or $1 each.

I have ethical issues with foie gras, which is set to be outlawed in California in 2012.

Only snooty 21st-century overcompensating dog owners would consider it worthwhile.

PRO:
I got some ridiculously cute photos.

Muggs was delighted.

THE TAKEAWAY?
Worth it.

  • Kind of hard to take your ethics seriously if you're willing to scrap 'em for your dog, who will also eat rubber bands and his own vomit.

I love foie gras, but I rarely splurge on it for myself, much less my pets.

  • @ barryg

Jeremy here. I calculated it scientifically by the amount of drool produced by Muggs up 38% from his regular doggy treats.

Bouchon treats also got bonus points for the amount of stamping back and forth he did with his feet, he only does that when he really loves the smell of something super yummy!

  • Correction, They actually sell in two sizes.

    The pricing works like this:

4 Large size biscuits for $7

Individual half size biscuits sell for $1 a piece

  • A bag of 4 for 7$ or 1$ for a single??? why not buy 4 singles for 4 dollars??

  • Worth it? How did you calculate that?! I seriously doubt your dog enjoyed these more than any other quality biscuit.

  • I thought the same, sweetie. My guess is that it should have read "$7 for a bag of four or $2 each."

  • I know this is not important...but why would you pay $7 for 4 biscuits if 1 biscuit cost a dollar, that means if you bought them one at a time you could have 7 biscuits for $7.
