Dream Job for the Cookbook Obsessed

Rebecca Federman may just have the ideal job for any cookbook-obsessed foodie. She’s the culinary librarian for the New York Public Library, watching over its collection of cookbooks and historical menus and helping foodie writers with research projects. Travel site IgoUgo features an interview with Federman this week.

Federman also writes a blog, called Cooked Books, that seeks to explore and share the culinary resources of the library. Recent entries have celebrated Fannie Farmer (on her birthday), shared a beer recipe attributed to George Washington, and brought news that television cooking shows are free to download if you have a library card. She also teaches the odd class as well—history of early lager beer in New York City was a recent topic.

What a great job for a foodie bookworm. Besides somehow becoming the owner of Books for Cooks, I can’t think of a better one.
