Where to Find the City’s Best Bloody Mary

Where to get a Bloody Mary in the city? Of course, the ultimate old-school hangout is a great place to find an old-fashioned drink, and mariacarmen enjoys the "lovely spicy Bloody Marys—perfectly fine, lots of horseradish" at Tadich Grill.

Finnegans Wake has a fabulous BM, and Meredith typically enjoys one while waiting for a table for brunch at Zazie, next door. BTW, she says, "Zazie has what I think are the best BLTs (if a slightly fancy version) in San Francisco. Their gingerbread pancakes are good too, but I have only strayed from the BLT the one time."

Zeitgeist's offerings are favored by several hounds. "The BMs at Zeitgeist are good, solid, vegetal, and old-skool," says mielemaiale. "Better on a hot day when the burlesque ladies and the FTMs who love them are out promenading."

"Zuni's are also good, lots of shallot. Great with oysters," says wanderlust21.

The DIY Bloody Mary bar at Elixir on Sundays has fans because of the variety of choice, including bacon, and if you get too crazy with the add-ons, a bartender is on hand for a rescue.
