Goodbye, Plastic Bags

People have known about the blight of plastic bags on the landscape and in our waste disposal sites for a while now. Some cities have gone so far as to ban the grocery-carrying devices.

Now Whole Foods, whose emphasis on organics and sustainability has made it a clean, well-lighted place to shop for
pesticide-free foods, has announced that by Earth Day—April 22—it will stop offering disposable plastic bags in its stores. With more stores moving to paper bags and, even better, reusable shopping bags, the plastic bag is well on its way to becoming an endangered species, so you’d better get your rug started.
