The East Village’s Siren Call of Gin

"The first rule of the Gin Club," Chowhound small h writes, "is you post about the Gin Club." And so she has, recounting the first in a series of reservation-only events at The Winslow, a newish British-style public house in the East Village.

For $20, the ginerati enjoyed a convivial evening of conversation, food, and drink featuring gin shots, gin and tonics, a talk by the boss at Death's Door Gin, mix-'em-yourself Bee's Knees cocktails (gin, honey, lemon, bee pollen), and snacks including deviled eggs and crumpets with mushroom ragout. "It was very pleasant," says small h, who found the food, drink, and inviting vibe worth a return visit "even without the siren call of gin."
