Macaron Parlour’s East Village Shop Is Insanely Good

To the growing list of street-fair alumni that have graduated to four walls, add Macaron Parlour. It made a name at seasonal markets like Madison Square Eats and opened a stand-alone shop last fall. Chowhound ellenost expects to be a regular for little sandwich cookies like the signature candied bacon with maple cream cheese, which she certifies is "insane." Other good bets: lemon, hazelnut, tiramisu, red velvet, caramel fleur de sel, and the aptly named Party Time—salted milk chocolate and dulce de leche.

It turns out Macaron Parlour Patisserie is about more than macarons. Among its other wares are croissants, cookies, and a standout kouign amann—sugary and crunchy outside, rich and moist inside—that ellenost declares "divine."
