Roostertail’s the Place to Score Some of SF’s Best Wings

Set between Lower Pacific Heights and Japantown, Roostertail is a rotisserie chicken restaurant from a couple who worked together at Postrio, then opened Birley Sandwiches (now shuttered) in the Financial District.

Roostertail's approach is simple: Get your chicken, pick your sides, sit down, and chow. The Rooster Salad (bacon, walnuts, beets, goat cheese) and BBQ chicken sandwich have a fan in wineguy7. And though the straightforward menu is divided into sections called Chicken and Not Chicken, it's the former you'll want to focus on—especially the wings.

Roostertail regular dunstable says the menu has its share of misses, but the chicken wings—tossed in a chimichurri-like sauce with basil, cilantro, parsley, and lemon—are among the best in San Francisco.
