February Cookbook of the Month Does Bistro Comfort

Each month Chowhounds choose a cookbook, then invite everyone to cook from it and report on their experiences. Check out the Cookbook of the Month archive for all the details and links to past discussions.

February's pick is Bistro Cooking at Home by Gordon Hamersley, chef and co-owner of Hamersley's Bistro in Boston. Originally published in 2003, the book is now out of print, but finding it used shouldn't be a problem.

Full of what Chowhound nomadchowwoman calls accessible recipes for sophisticated comfort food, Hamersley's book features hearty braises and roasts perfect for wintry weather, plus chapters covering bistro staples ranging from salads and appetizers to savory tarts and gratins. Included are the restaurant's signature roast chicken and soufléed lemon custard recipes, and each main dish comes with wine suggestions.

Taking part is easy: Just choose a recipe you'd like to cook from the book and post your results. Click here to get started.
