Just days after Sandy blew ashore, Fletcher's Brooklyn Barbecue landed in Gowanus, bringing the promise of credible 'cue to a storm-besieged neighborhood that could use a lift. So far, so good. Chowhound jimmyjazz says the meats—slow-smoked over oak and maple by a pitmaster recruited from Manhattan's popular RUB BBQ—are the real deal, highlighted by St. Louis–cut ribs (pictured) and burnt brisket ends ("basically BBQ candy"). Sides include mac 'n' cheese, coleslaw, and great, smoky baked beans. "I'm psyched to have a local place where the meat speaks for itself," jimmyjazz adds, "no gloppy sauce needed."
