The cuisine of Moldova shares a thing or two with that of neighboring Romania, so it's no surprise that polenta-like mamaliga, popular across the border, is a house special at Moldova Restaurant in Brooklyn. Mamaliga trapeza (pictured) is a sturdy entrée that includes stewed pork, scrambled eggs, and cheese, Barry Strugatz reports in a recent Chowhound thread. Placinte, a savory pastry stuffed with farmer cheese and dill, is another good bet. "Everything was excellent. Though a bit on the heavy side," Barry says, in a nod to the meat-laden menu.
