"Coney Island Bialys and Bagels on Coney Island Ave closed a couple months ago, breaking my heart. But the place will be saved by a couple of cab drivers—Muslim guys who're keeping things kosher, and who seem to have the sort of good karma/inertia that may result in some really freaking good bagels (and bialys). "Tried the pignoli tart and the taralli. The center of the tart was sweet almond paste, with a tiny dab of apricot jam—all topped with pine nuts. Quite rich and sweet—but very tasty and definitely worth the calories. The taralli were fresh and just crunchy enough. ... Dough was mildly sweet with flavors of vanilla.
