Overheard on the New York Boards

"We had some of the freshest and most buttery oysters I've ever had. Then, the beet green bruschetta was so flavorful and well-balanced. I had the calamari with spicy anchovy aioli, which was a hit with the whole table. Tender and not too heavy with the batter. I had the famous lamb chops as my entrée, and they certainly lived up to their reputation. I haven't savored a dish like that for a long time. I think I paused with every single bite." – luckiestduck on Union Square Cafe

"Wow, I have to say, this dish was exceptional! The green beans were actually edamame ... they were fun to sink my teeth into. The pickled vegetable ... gave a nice umami lift to the dish. And the tofu sheets... oh, they were heavenly. Perfectly tender and pliant, and cut beautifully into ribbons. ... Very comforting and wonderful." – Cheeryvisage, previously unimpressed, warms up to Tang Pavilion

"The veal scallopini are excellent, and you can't go wrong with the sausages or any other meats. ... [Y]ou will notice that they seem to take people out of order. That is because people wait for a specific butcher, who is 'their' butcher. Ours is Sal." – roxlet on Biancardi Meats in the Bronx
