Overheard on the San Francisco Bay Area Board

"It was a very tasty thing—they were offering (I think) three types of sandwich—pork, chicken, and something vegetable. I had the pork (with a slaw) and was quite happy with my selection—the bread itself was very good and cooked in a very high-temp hearth in the van." - lmnopm on Vesta Flatbread

"Shanghai Flavor Shop (Sunnyvale)—greasy hole-in-the-wall kind of place. Very famous for their Shanghainese pan fried pork buns (sheng jian bao), might just be the absolute best in all of SF Bay Area, and has ample soup and juices inside. Other than that, spinach and pork wontons in soup (Shanghainese style) is a nice change of pace to go with the pork buns, or their scallion and oil brothless noodles is also great if you need extra carbs." - K K

"We had dinner today at Kirala for the first time. Wow, we were very happy. We had several types of robata (beef tongue; whole squid; Japanese eggplant; shishito peppers), and several types of sushi (caterpillar roll, nigiri unagi, nigiri uni with quail egg, nigiri octopus, nigiri ikura with quail egg). Everything was very good or truly excellent." – D Hound on the Japanese grill and sushi bar in Berkeley
