Overheard on the San Francisco Bay Area Board

"We wandered into Dolce Bella at the Westgate West Shopping Center around 8:30 last night. People were sipping wine, enjoying the breeze at the outdoor tables, and having dessert. There was a great jazz trio playing. We had a delicious chocolate pot de creme with a chewy almond cookie—$5. The chocolate fondue came with fresh strawberry, banana, pineapple, mini orange-scented madeleines, and the house-made caramels to dip—$10." – Tumkers on the San Jose spot

"Gio's was also great as an afternoon place to grab drinks. Pours were stiff, prices were nearer to the dive end of the range rather than higher-end and they tolerated an atmosphere that was like the mid-'90s if you can get my drift." – Eugene Park on his memories of the Financial District restaurant

"Ginji is pretty decent, and a welcome addition to downtown San Mateo. Although I prefer the grilled items at Kokko, Ginji has a much wider menu, including some perfectly crisped fried lotus root chips and a creamy, spicy buta kimchi udon carbonara that will be on my order list for the third time. (It is the closest thing to the sublime kimchi mentaiko udon at Vancouver's Zakkushi.)" – pilinut
