Old-School Italian in Ozone Park

For devotees of Don Peppe in Queens—that’s Don Pep’s, to regulars—the baked clams lead the list of don’t-miss dishes. “There are no better baked clams…...anywhere!” promises daveyj.

Not far behind, hounds say, are linguine with clam sauce and the veal chop Don Peppe. Other smart orders include chicken scarpariello, veal with eggplant, pasta with prosciutto, stuffed artichoke, and lobster fra diavolo. “Doggone, it’s good,” says david sprague, “about the best throwback red sauce place—high end—I’ve been to.”

Don Peppe isn’t universally acclaimed though. wonka calls it “nothing special … unless you like a lot of garlic.”

  • Haven't been there for a couple of years. No printed menu, it was hanging on the wall. Food was just okay, there are much better places in Queens. Hey, what do I know......I'm old school first generation Italian. Most food is made at home, the old fashioned way.
