In a very unlikely location (a rather dumpy Thai restaurant that even the easy-to-please undergrads at nearby MIT avoid), damneddemand has sniffed out a sudden shift to a sweet Szechuan menu. Thailand Cafe is at least on par with the well-regarded Sichuan Garden, says damneddemand.
The best dishes: double-cooked pork belly with spicy capsicum, which features thin-sliced meet with green onion; a not-on-the-menu hotpot with fried chicken and taro; and Chengdu dry hot chicken, which damneddemand describes as “simple fried chicken chunks with lots of dry hot peppers.”
Main dishes are in the $7 to $12 range; appetizers are $4 to $6.
