Overheard on the Home Cooking Board

"[S]o you put 40 basil leaves and 2 cups of grain alcohol (Everclear if you can get it, or vodka) in a jar or container with a tight lid. Store it in a dark place for 4 weeks. Shake it every now and then. Then strain the basil leaves out of the alcohol and mix the (now green) alcohol with 2 cups of simple syrup (2 cups sugar/1 cup water) and pour it into a pretty bottle. A dash of this is really good in lemonade." - pdxgastro

"Toss with [extra-virgin olive oil], minced garlic, salt & pepper. Preheat sheet pan in 450 oven then add okra. Roast for 11 minutes total, shaking pan halfway through cooking time to turn. Delicious and not slimy." - letsindulge

"I make a bruschetta with tomatoes, garlic, basil, and olive oil. Put a little blue cheese and melt it in a toaster oven. Finish it off with thick slices of avocado. Perfect." - DoobieWah
