If you can't make it to Paris for the weekend, eatdrinkseattle thinks the frozen chocolate croissants from Williams-Sonoma are fantastic. You need to follow the directions exactly to reheat them, including thawing them overnight. "Yes, they are expensive. I usually splurge on them for Christmas," says eatdrinkseattle.
Great news, though—boogiebaby says, "The Williams-Sonoma croissants and the Trader Joe croissants are both made by Galaxy Desserts. I've tried both and you can't tell a difference. Both require you to proof them overnight on a baking tray, then bake. The only difference is the WS are $40 and the TJ ones are $4."
I agree! The Galaxy Desserts croissants are every bit as good as what you find in Paris. In fact the chef owner of Galaxy Desserts is a Frenchman- so he knows what he's doing! I often send a box of these to friends for gifts via Williams Sonoma. I'm always very popular afterward! ;-)
