"I am personally not at all against their use. I have seen home cooks stir MSG-laden Knorr-Suiza Caldo de Pollo powder into a stock filled with meaty bones and aromatics, so it is NOT just a substitute for properly made stocks and high quality ingredients. It just adds that extra boost of deliciousness when used with good cooking techniques and nice ingredients." – luckyfatima on synthetic umami enhancers

"I used to make frozen homemade egg & bean breakfast burritos and I found that the biggest problem for the tortilla was toughness from reheating (microwave, though I didn't like the crispiness I got from the oven either)—if I let it thaw sufficiently before heating, the tortilla was just as good as unfrozen." – tinnywatty

"If you buy some honey or maple syrup that comes in plastic, it might be best to repackage it in sterilized canning jars. That's what I do with my maple syrup. I buy it by the gallon, which means plastic. I warm it up a bit, pour it into 500ml sterilized glass canning jars, and pop them into a boiling water bath for 5 minutes to seal. I have some from 2 years ago now which is still fresh as a daisy when opened. No reason not to do the same with honey." – Ferdzy on honey that tastes like plastic
