Proving that Chowhound-worthy food can pop up where you least expect it, Bert2011 found Caribbean barbecued swai (a type of catfish farmed in Asia) in the frozen food section of Walmart. "Thought interesting so brought home and cooked," says Bert2011. "Wow! You won't believe it until you try it, but two entrées in the package for $5.98 and it was actually very good."
Discuss: Caribbean BBQ Swai – from Wal-Mart
Grabbed a pack of frozen Swai from Kroger's...unseasoned. I thawed it and slapped it on crisco covered piece of foil, sprinkled with salt and OldBay and baked it...OMG! I am in love! The flavor that some say is bland is to me just delicate, you just have to be careful not to over season as this tender flaky meat needs very little help.
