Crazy Good Frozen Yogurt

wileen, whose love affair with frozen yogurt began long ago at hound hangout Forty Carrots, is old school at heart. She’s allergic to the trendy fro-yo spots that have colonized the city in recent years. “Pinkberry stinks,” she sniffs, and she has nothing good to say about Red Mango, Berrywild, or their ilk, either.

But a no-frills shop called Crazy Bananas, barely a block from Pinkberry and Red Mango outlets, has turned her head. The plain fro-yo is wileen’s favorite, but there are also pomegranate, berry, and rose hips options. “Crazy Bananas tastes like real yogurt,” she adds, “just frozen with a hint of sweetness. All natural.”

And of course, no hard feelings. I do think that Red Mango is at least better than the PB! I suppose it is a bit more natural.
But still, just not what I like.

If I were to pick one other alternative to CB...that is, if there's bad news about the so-called renovations and I never get to have my favorite CB again, I'll have to make the trip to Brooklyn more often to Yogo Monster. I really like it a lot!
So CB, Frogurt and YM are my picks.-COLLAPSE

  • Hi Wileen - Just checking in under a different name, 'cause I can't seem to log in on my other one right now. But I really appreciate your comments and I loved your post about Crazy Bananas.

In fact I was trying to drop in there the other day (Sunday 4/5) but found it closed for renovations. We all know what that can mean, but at least the sign said Crazy Bananas would be back later this month....+READ

(BTW, please don't hate me for this, but I did finally try the Red Mango on 32nd, my first, and kinda liked it.)-COLLAPSE

  • Hi Mark. I just wanted to say thanks for your comments!
I always look forward to reading your posts in the Chow digest. You recap the gist of all the comments, filter out any nonesense and quote the pertinent points all in your own style.
In case there's any doubt, at least with respect to my posts, you have been right on with capturing my opinions in the past, including my passion for froyo.
