"I have had great success serving a big cut-glass bowl of grapefruit segments, slightly sugared. People are used to having it on the half-shell and regard a bowl of pure grapefruit bites as something luxurious. It's a little tedious to segment six or eight grapefruit but you can put some good music on and just do it." – Querencia
"Make a soft polenta, pour a 1/2-inch-thick layer on a buttered ovenproof pan. Add some ragout, grated Parmesan, pieces of mozzarella or young cheese. Pour some more polenta and repeat ending with sauce and a generous sprinkle of Parmesan. Bake for 25-30 [minutes] at cake temperature until bubbly and slightly golden on top." – madonnadelpiatto
"[F]or a really restorative chicken soup, I delete. There is nothing like a bowl of chicken [soup] that is just chicken broth, reduced, with a bit of ginger and just enough seasoning such as salt or fish sauce. Maybe a few scallions for crunch." – smtucker
