Manducatis, a hound-endorsed Italian old-timer in Queens, is trying something new. Its owners recently opened a trattoria, bakery, café, and grocery called Manducatis Rustica, and Long Island City hounds are settling right in.
Pastries, cookies, and breakfast treats are first rate, says tabs. middyboo loves the house-made gelato. There’s excellent bread, and excellent sandwiches made on that bread. There’s also pizza from a wood oven, though MarcInSunnysideGardens finds it “good, not great.” A handful of specials—a pasta, a fish dish, etc.—round out the short menu.
All in all, says Astoria Lurker, this is shaping up as “a great place for the neighborhood and even possibly a food destination.”
