Overheard on the General Topics Board

"I had the strangest craving for green bells for a while, but the cubanelle has pitched its tent in my yard. It's a nice, sweet pepper that enjoys hanging out with a naughtier crowd. Last week, I made shirred eggs on little beds of cubanelles, poblanos, and jalapeños, dotted with hot sauce. I regretted the lack of a bread, and thought that an arepa would have been just the ticket." – onceadaylily

"I'm a staunch traditionalist when it comes to stroganoff. I was taught to make it in the middle of the last century by an elderly Russian lady who, with her husband, WALKED from Moscow to Istanbul to escape the Bolsheviks. (How's that for a romantic story?) Tensela stressed heavily that the ONLY ingredients in stroganoff are butter, beef, onions, mushrooms, sour cream, salt, pepper, and a little scrape of nutmeg. Anything more is heresy." – Caroline1

"Swanson's went out of business a long time ago but Martin's Chips took over. They are almost identical to Swanson's. I live in Ohio now but just recently had my sister bring me some when she came here. There is nothing that can match them." – cathymaring
