"Say you bought some value fish fingers, and they continue to sit in the freezer as you picture how horrible they must be, and you put off eating them. While they sit in your freezer, you don't need to buy any more fish fingers. I feel in this case, having a more enticing packaging will help the fish fingers, baked beans, digestives, to be consumed, thus making the supermarket more money." – Soop, on store-brand, generic packaging
"I agree that Tasmanian leatherwood honey is incredible. I ordered a jar from Kalystan's after reading the Gourmet article, and have been trying to use it every chance I get because the flavor is so unique and wonderful. It made a fantastic meal out of a whole chicken rubbed with Chinese five-spice seasoning and basted with the honey while roasting." – ExercisetoEat
"I'll get killed for this one, but I prefer imitation vanilla extract. I find the real thing to be too heady for most of the things I like to bake: cupcakes, cookies, and other lowbrow desserts. I can see using the real deal in something more upscale in taste, but I really don't like the real taste of vanilla for a down-and-dirty cupcake or cookie." – ttoommyy
