The Digest: Chowhound's Daily Roundup

GENERAL TOPICS: Goat Butter

Goat’s milk, goat cheese, goat yogurt—all delicious. But is there goat butter? The cream from goat’s milk is lower in the kind of fats that make it easy to turn it into butter, but goat butter does exist and is sold commercially. It has the slightly “goat-y” taste that other goat’s milk products have, and a slightly waxy texture compared to dairy milk butter, says Ruth Lafler. Enorah finds it to be delicious, and C. Hamster thinks it’s a fine, though pricey, alternative to cow’s milk butter for those who can’t tolerate regular dairy. “It is really nice on some fresh no knead bread,” says C. Hamster.

Comments

Ah, yes. Goat butter. Very easy to buy in the UK, most large supermarkets stock it. As a lactose intolerant I don't have a choice buit to eat it if I want butter. I don't find it as creamy as cows butter, but it will do. Now goats cream is another story - I love that!
