Peppermint schnapps, amaretto, and bourbon are favored by hounds as hot chocolate additions. troutpoint likes hot chocolate dosed with spiced rum and whipped cream—apparently, in Jim Leff’s beloved Newfoundland, it’s called a snowball. Cinnamon and cayenne, in dark chocolate with very little milk, is the preferred concoction of AnnaEA. Other options: creamy peanut butter, Earl Grey tea-infused milk, and a mixture of Vietnamese cinnamon, almond extract, and salt.
