Downtown Boston has plenty of options for quick weekday lunches, and local hounds have several suggestions for where to find a special sandwich:
Zo: Both ebone and devilham like the original gyro at this Center Plaza establishment, while MC Slim JB thinks the chicken gyro is great as well.
Chacarero: A longtime Chowhound favorite, this sandwich shop serves up great Chilean sandwiches (topped with green beans!).
Casa Razdora: southie_chick says that the sandwiches are great, particularly on focaccia.
Cafe Latino: Alcachofa likes the pork sandwiches here, but warns that if you're looking for a "traditional Cubano," you'll have to walk them through it.
Sam La Grassa's: At this Boston sandwich institution, marais particularly likes the "succulent pastrami and the transcendent Italian sub."
Marliave: ebone and MC Slim JB think the Mrs. Marliave sandwich (a French twist on ham and cheese, topped with an over-easy egg) deserves recognition, as do the other sandwiches on the lunch menu.
Karo's BBQ: Office workers regularly line up for a sandwich from this food cart, and for good reason. "The grilled chicken kabobs and garlic sauce are unbelievably good," nsenada says.
