Overheard on the Los Angeles Board

"Just had the Lanzhou noodles. Holy sh--, those were awesome. Much better (to me) than their ramen." – odub on Fujin Ramen

"There are definitely smaller restaurants than 5835 Temple City Blvd (e.g. Nha Trang), but I don't recall seeing a narrower one, especially for a distinct structure: It might be an optical illusion, but it looks narrower than the length of the subcompact parked in front in this photo from Google Street View. ... I suspect it was originally an alley between the neighboring structures." – Peripatetic on the location of new Indonesian restaurant Banana LEAF

"I've eaten my share of menudo and posole throughout Mexico and here in Los Angeles. El Abuelo serves one of the best versions I've had of posole here in Los Angeles. Regret the fact that there is no beer or tequila but because of their proximity to a school they are prohibited by law from serving it. You can do what some evil people that I know do and that's smuggle your own small flask of tequila in your pocket." – Hughlipton on El Abuelo Restaurant
