Though some thought it impossible, Foodandwine, a hound visiting from Los Angeles, just reported back on his very successful overnight adventure in Boston. (On a Thursday no less!) Want to know how it's done? Here's a rundown:
11:30 p.m. — Land at Logan Airport.
12:30 a.m. — Drinks in the South End (Delux Cafe is open until 1 a.m., Franklin Cafe until 2 a.m.).
2 a.m. — Walk to Chinatown. Try not to nod off into your bowl of clams with black bean sauce (plenty of Chinatown options are open late—Chau Chow City is a good choice for those clams, and it's open until 4 a.m.).
4 a.m. — Attempt to rest in a hotel lobby. When this fails, head to South Station.
6 a.m. — Buy a snack and enjoy a sunrise walk around the waterfront.
9 a.m. — Hop on the Orange Line to Jamaica Plain, in time for a 10 a.m. Sam Adams Brewery tour.
12 p.m. — Take the Orange Line back to the North End—enjoy fresh oysters at Haymarket, followed by some cannoli at Mike's Pastry.
1 p.m. — Lunch at Regina Pizza.
2:30 p.m. — One last visit to Mike's to pick up some biscotti.
3:30 p.m. — Hop on the Blue Line to return to the airport. Try not to fall asleep and miss the Airport T stop.
5:30 p.m. — Fly off and enjoy a well-deserved nap on the plane!
While this may sound unbelievable (or, at least, stomachache-inducing), Foodandwine shows that it really can be done.
