Welcome to Chowhound's Cookbook of the Month (COTM)! Everyone is welcome to participate, and you can join in at any time. Just go to the current month's book (click on the photo-link at left) and you can get started with cooking and posting. You are also welcome to post on the threads for the past books (see list below), and many participants continue to do so.

Here's how it works: Toward the beginning of a given month, the organizer posts a thread inviting suggestions for the next month's cookbook and members chime in with their suggestions. The organizer gathers those responses and there's a vote amongst the most popular suggestions. Once a winner is determined, an announcement goes up so people have some time to buy or borrow the book from the library before the new month starts. For those who can't get the book itself, there are often some recipes available online.

As the new month begins, new threads are set up to discuss different parts of the book. Posters jump in with their comments and photos, discussing the recipes they've tried. When the month is over, the threads remain, a valuable resource for anyone cooking from those books in the future.
