ABOUT THE CHALLENGE
At Thanksgiving the turkey gets top billing, but the side dishes steal the show. We ooh and aah over the golden bird and then heap our plates with marshmallow-topped candied yams, buttery mashed potatoes, and maybe something green and vegetal (as long as it also involves cheese). Surely you can improve upon those iconic recipes—or create a new classic.
Enter your Thanksgiving side dish recipe on CHOW using our Member Recipes feature by October 31. CHOW editors will decide the top recipes, and the winner(s) will be featured on CHOW. Voting may be a factor in selection of the best recipe.
Here’s what we’re looking for: a clearly written recipe for a delicious Thanksgiving side dish. It could be a vegetable, a starch, a stuffing, whatever … it just has to be appropriate for a fall holiday meal. The recipe will be judged on taste, creativity, clear communication, and Thanksgiving suitability.
To enter, click the Enter Your Own button. You’ll be able to enter your recipe into our database, publish it, and submit it for the challenge. Or, if you’ve already published your recipe on CHOW, you’ll be able to choose it from a drop-down menu. Be sure to explain in the recipe intro why this is the winning Thanksgiving side dish. Read the fine print for the rules.
Check out the winners of our last two recipe challenges, eggs and chocolate desserts.
