What Brings You Joy Around the Holidays?
Mamas Brown sugar cinnamon apple pie.
I am asked to make this pie for every major holiday. Its has a wonderful buttery sweet aroma, with hints of apple, brown sugar and cinnamon. It smells, and tastes heavenly.
10 good size apples
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
6 tbsp. flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter.
crust for one pie.
Peel, core and slice the apples. Put them into a bowl with the white sugar and the cinnamon and toss well. let juices drain to the bottom of the bowl over night. Take the liquid from the bowl, I usually use a colander, and pour it into a saucepan. heat it on low for a few minutes, then add brown sugar and butter, mixing well. Once the butter is melted, add the flour, stirring frequently for about 5 minutes. Pour the sauce over the apples and toss. Fill pie crust and bake for about 40 minutes at 375. yum
