Welcome to CHOW List Beta

Going on a trip and want to plan where you’ll eat? Want to share your favorite outdoor dining recommendations with friends? Need a go-to list of places to eat with small children? Create a CHOW List!

You can now create lists of restaurants, bars, and stores, complete with a map of the locations and list-specific descriptions. This is a beta release, so we apologize for any problems you encounter, and we are eager to hear from you with comments and suggestions at redesign@chow.com or on this Chowhound thread.

How do I create a list?

1. Log in to chow.com
2. In the MyCHOW drop-down menu, select Lists
3. Click on Create New List
4. Enter your list title, region, and description
5. Click on the “Add to this list” button
6. Search for the place you’d like to add. Select the place, enter information about why you are adding this place to your list, and click Done!
7. The place you added should now show up in your list and on the map, and you are ready to add another!

What if I want my list to be private?

Lists can be public or private. If you want anyone on CHOW to see your list, please leave the “Make This List Public” box checked when you are setting up your list. If you want the list to be private, so that only you can see it, please uncheck that box. Your change will automatically be saved.

Where can I find my lists?

Your lists are always available in MyCHOW, under Lists. You also will see them on the CHOW Lists hub, in the navigation under Restaurants & Bars.

What do you have planned for future releases?

We’d love to hear ideas from you about how to improve this feature. And we’re already planning the following improvements: quick save from a restaurant or bar page; collaborative lists so that you can work together on lists; comments on lists; mobile lists; and the ability to reorder list items.

What's the status of bugs and feature requests reported since the feature launched

Thanks for all of the feedback on CHOW Lists on our Site Talk Thread, it's been very helpful and we're working as we speak to resolve the issues and make improvements. We've got a list of bugs & new feature requests we're working through, and we'll keep you updated on the list below:

• Adding additional regions to the "Lists by Region" section
• Lists can be found by search engines
• Places pages now display lists that they appear in
• Phone numbers now appear on new places
• Users must now 'save' list before it is created (to reduce number of empty lists)
• We have reduced the number of duplicate places being created (but we're still working on fixing this completely)
• Site search now works on list pages
• We've added delete button to list edit page
• Previous search resulst no longer appear on 'add a place' popup
