A Flame-Grilled Story to Warm the Heart

Bittersweet and heartwarming food news has emerged from Great Falls, Montana. The national Golden Corral chain of restaurants offers a free annual dinner for members of the military and veterans. But this year, the Great Falls branch burned down to the ground a few weeks before the dinner.

The decision on the meal? Full speed ahead, reports the Great Falls Tribune. The dinner was held at the local Saints Peter and Paul Center. When the fire was finally put it, Golden Corral manager Kate Tucker and co-workers “hit the phones, asking other local businesses for a hand. The answers kept coming back ‘yes.’ Golden Corral provided the main course—roast beef, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, veggies and baked rolls—but everything else, from serving spoons to desserts, came from other donors.”

As for the restaurant, the plan is to rebuild and start back up within a year.
