I hear that people stand in line for hours just to snatch up Garrett’s popcorn from one of its stores in Chicago. Why bother when you can get it delivered right to your home? Surprisingly, the caramel-and-cheese combo is pretty good—I like how the salty and the sweet come together. And it’s made with real butter and cheddar cheese, without anything artificial in it.
Garrett Gourmet Popcorn, $22–$28 for a one-gallon tin

You stand in line because you can get it hot and fresh. That is the best! But if like me you don’t live in Chicago you need to have it mailed to you.
I love Garrett’s cheese popcorn, but your statement is incorrect that it’s “without anything artificial”. Here are the ingredients (from their web site):
Popcorn, Coconut Oil (refined coconut oil, beta-carotene [color], artificial flavor), Dehydrated Cheddar Cheese (pasteurized milk, cheese culture, salt, enzymes), Soybean Oil, Palm Oil, Salt, Cream, Sodium Phosphate, Yellow 5, Lactic Acid, Soy Lecithin (an emulsifier), Yellow 6.
The caramel popcorn, however, could be considered “all un-artificial” – the ingredients are just brown sugar, butter, popcorn, corn syrup, salt, and baking soda.
Also watch out how much you eat, the cheese popcorn has 200 calories for 1/2 a cup.
I use to go to Garrett’s when I was a kid. I recall the cold winters waiting in line for a little bag of those yummy popped kernels all sticky with caramel….memories..like the corner of my mind…
I tried it in NYC for my first time, AMAZING!!!!!! Its the best hot
Absolutely, the Garrett’s experience depends on going to a Garrett’s and getting the popcorn fresh.
By far teh best caramel and cheese popcorn I have ever had.
Where did you get the caloric info? I have been trying to get someone to tell me calorie counts for this stuff for ages! I *know* it is, by no stretch of the imagination, healthy but I want to be able to plan for it… The company is happy to give me an ingredient list but refuses to share nutritional info when I have asked. Does anyone have info for the mix (caramel-cheese).
Thanks!
Never mind my question. Seriously, I have been e-mailing and calling them for 3 years now and they have always refused to tell me nutritional info. (Their reply has been: “Dear Ms. Kalweit:
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, nutrition information is not available for our products. This is due to a variety of factors, including the secrecy surrounding our recipes. The best we can offer is a list of ingredients that could possibly be found in any one of our flavors; it is included below…”
This morning, after posting my question here, I started searching again. Hidden on their website, I found it! http://www.garrettpopcorn.com/nutrition.asp
Woo-hoo!
