Veggies Get the Spa Treatment

I use a bamboo steamer to steam vegetables, but it’s bigger than my pot and hard to clean. This little silicone steamer looks great and seems like a solution to my problem: It won’t scratch my pot, and the silicone surface is very easy to clean. Also, its slim shape makes it simple to store.

  1. everything made of silicone that i have bought, i have thrown out within a year because it has absorbed flavors and odors and developed an “off” smell that affects the food. i can’t speak to this particular product, but i tend to avoid the stuff based on my past experiences.

  2. Yeah, I would definately advise against using your cookie silpats to bake meatballs. I never could get them clean enough to use for cookies again.
But I hate those collapsable steamers. Mine always fall apart.

  3. I have one of these and love it. I use it for veggies only and haven’t noticed any odor absorption.
