After brainstorming for my mom’s birthday, I concluded that since she likes both herbs and eggs, I would buy her an Eggling—a self-contained garden in the shape of an egg. It’s made out of porous ceramic, and all you have to do is crack its top, water, and wait for your herbs (basil, parsley, mint, thyme) or flowers (chrysanthemum, lobelia, phlox, petunia) to sprout.
