Could it be possible that a can of puréed prunes will be one of the hottest accessories this fall? Well, probably not, but Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Marcia Cross are all linked to a very peculiar Hollywood fad diet. Apparently, they’re enjoying Earth’s Best organic baby food in place of regular adult meals. Marie Claire calls it “baby eating.”
Jennifer Aniston believes the ‘purer, nutrient-packed, gluten-free’ pots help to maintain her trim figure; Reese Witherspoon told a US TV show she’s careful not to crash diet on infant food and makes sure to have one adult meal a day; while Marcia Cross ditched junk food snacks for baby food to keep hunger pangs at bay.
Now, swapping a jar of Gerber applesauce for a bag of Doritos is one thing, but eating a 70-calorie serving of puréed beef, carrots, and corn doesn’t make a whole lot of sense as a meal replacement for a grown-up. One commenter on the Big Fat Deal blog says:
It’s amazing how this ‘diet’ finds a way to both infantilize and starve women at once. Yay, both misogynistic cultural imperatives achieved at once! Good grief.
One can only wonder if the ladies listed above have discovered Wholesomebabyfood.com—a website featuring a wealth of information on making purées for your toothless child (or your favorite starlet).

Okay the idea sounds repulsive and creepy but i since i try everything that I give my son I have to say that the taste of one of the organic baby food’s “pumpkin pie” flavors actually made me think – “you know for 50 calories or whatever, this tastes seriously like dessert and would be a great treat on a diet!”
Certainly not an advocate for eating all-baby-food-all-the-time, but if you know you’re going out for a dinner where even with careful choices there’s going to be a killer fat & calorie count at the end, why not have a balanced but very low-cal lunch to help balance the numbers?
It also makes more sense to me to have actual organic food that’s pureed than these additive-laden power bars with double the calories as an occasional meal replacement. And, it’s already in a portion-controlled container.
Without going into telling you why, I had to eat baby food for about a month some years back…and …you know…it was not really that bad… I stuck with the fruits and puddings etc I.E. , the good stuff….and had to eat alot of little jars to kepp 1300 cals going each day…it was real handy to take with me and I did warm some of them up…. In the end I was glad to be back to foodie food : )
