I’m a firm believer that a kitchen says a lot about someone’s personality. Show me your kitchen, and I will tell you who you are. Show me your astrological sign, and I will guess your birthday month—and I will probably get it wrong. Still, there are probably a few people out there who are as devoted to their daily horoscopes as they are to their favorite cooking gadgets—and the website for HGTV’s What’s Your Sign? Design just might make their day.
The site offers kitchen horoscopes that explain which design styles suit each sign best. I’m a Capricorn, and for the most part, I fit the description. I do “like meals planned in advance” and “have a few tried-and-true family recipes which date back generations,” but I’m not sure about being the sign “most deserving of a fancy espresso machine”—I’m more of a tea drinker.

I am a trained astrologer and I’ve seen HGTVs show What’s Your Design Style. The idea is really on the right track because people really do project their personalities onto their living spaces (and even food). Unfortunately, I think their execution missed the mark. Too much focus on the Sun sign and not enough on the rest of the chart. But, it was a fun, if not somehwat cheesy show.
I do a little concept called Astro*Food – Where Food & Astrology Meet for a Tasty Trip Around the Zodiac. I’ve even taugh cooking classes locally using this concept. The Moon sign is going to be more likely to reflect food choices and habits than is the Sun sign but, how many people really know their Moon sign ;-)
