Sometimes the combination of sweet and savory can be divine. Some people love to enrobe their salty snacks in chocolate, while I am partial to the bacon maple bar from Portland’s Voodoo Doughnut.
But the Photoshop contest at photo display site Worth 1000 just goes too far. The challenge was to “create an all new meal by adding the dessert to the main dish.” The results, while technologically flawless, are the opposite of food porn. Savor a Sausage Split, a baked ham and yam pie, or my favorite, Stew ala-Mode.

After being pommelled with the concept of food porn, it’s refereshing to see a new food photography category emerge- food mourn.

Hey–This item opened my eyes to—VOODOO DOUGHNUT—What an awesome idea! I’ve long felt doughnuts deserved a make over, every other genre of dessert-like faire have had their moment in the last few decades-
Cinnamon Rolls, Pretzel, Cheesecake, Ice Cream… even Kettle Corn for cryin’ out loud! If I only lived near Portland OR!I got my hopes dashed when I realized Tex-ass was a huge doughnut and not a location–I’m in the Alamo City, heck I can see one on the River Walk–or even an hour away in Austin would be worth the treck. VooDudes!—Think …Lone Star ….BEER…. NO i MEANT STATE!
C’mon down to ‘moTown- as in ALAMO!!!
JackSpit — Voodoo is worth a trek to Portland. Just ask the guy who runs this blog: http://www.theblognut.blogspot.com/
